About the practice
About LogicModule Consulting
We are a United Kingdom advisory practice focused on family business succession and the quieter work of preparing owners to let go without abandoning the firm.
Why we exist
Most family firms in Britain do not fail for lack of customers. They stall when ownership, authority, and retirement collide — and nobody wants to be the person who names the awkward truth. LogicModule Consulting was formed to sit in that room as a steady outsider: curious about the trade, respectful of the family’s history, and unwilling to paper over disagreements that will resurface at the worst moment.
Origin
The practice grew out of years spent advising owner-managed companies in East Anglia and the wider United Kingdom — manufacturers, merchants, and service firms where cousins still share a payroll. We saw succession plans that lived only in a solicitor’s draft, and others that lived only in a founder’s head. The gap between those two documents is where we work.
How we approach the work
- People before instruments. Share classes and trusts matter, but only after the family can say who should lead and who should be fairly bought out.
- Trade literacy. We learn how your yard, shop floor, or practice actually makes money before we talk about timelines.
- Clear edges. We do not draft wills, file tax returns, or run recruitment searches. We prepare decisions and brief the professionals who do.
- United Kingdom context. Inheritance tax pressure, AIM valuations, and the habits of family companies here shape our advice — not generic “legacy” language imported from elsewhere.
Who you will meet
Engagements are led by a principal adviser with supporting associates for interview notes, research, and workshop logistics. You will always know who is in the room and why. We keep teams small so confidential family history does not become office gossip.
Values we hold in practice
Honesty over comfort, patience over speed, and written agreements over nods around a table. If we believe a preferred successor is not ready, we will say so privately first — then, if needed, in the group session with care.
Community
We occasionally host small roundtables in Essex for owners who are mid-succession and want to hear how peers handled sticky points such as unequal gifts or a non-family MD. Places are limited; enquire if that would help your family.
